Rookie defensive tackle Josh Shaw has been inactive for all but one game this season as he has been rehabilitating MCL and ACL knee injuries he suffered prior to the draft. The defensive tackle was expecting to miss the entire season, but after Dana Stubblefield came down with the flue, Shaw was activated as a replacement.

With two games remaining in the season, and the 49ers expecting to rest several of their injured or star players during these two games, there will be availability on the roster to make Shaw active. This would mean that Shaw would see his greatest amount of play time since last collegiate season.

The 49ers are hopeful that Shaw can be the future for them at defensive tackle. Both Bryant Young and Dana Stubblefield are getting on in their years and entering the most expensive parts of their contracts. If Shaw shows enough promise during these two games, the 49ers may begin to see him as a part of their future.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
