It’s interesting how the 49ers have yet to play a game where both there offense and defense play well. They have had games with big plays on both sides of the ball, but really this season has been based on either the offense or the defense playing well but not both at the same time.

The season started with the defense leaving the 49ers in position to score constantly, and managed to squander most of the opposition’s attacks. The effective form of defense was what got the 49ers off to a good start despite a struggling offense, that was simply ineffective.

Lately however, the tides have changed. It’s the defense that simply can’t stop offenses, and it’s the offense scoring a heck of a lot points, on nearly ever drive that is bailing out the team. The offense has become more explosive and much more vertical, scoring on their opening drives and jumping to early drives.

The 49ers need to be able to put together four quarters of football with the offense and defense playing at a high level. In other words, they need the entire team to be playing at its best all game. It will happen as players get healthy, and when it does, the team will finally look dominating.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
