As the 49ers pair down their roster to 53 players, one of the toughest decisions they will have to make is at linebacker. The team will likely carry six linebackers, and with five spots already solidified they will likely choose between Moore and Stong. Choosing who will be the difficult part.

Both Moore and Strong have played consistently well all off-season. It didn’t matter if it was in practice, on the field, with the defense or with the special teams, these guys gave the 49ers plenty of reason to keep both of them, and very little reason to let either of them go.

Fact of the matter is neither has really distinguished themselves as a better linebacker. Moore has had more experience at the position, because Strong used to play safety, but other than that, there are no real distinguishing differences between the players.

Of course, the team could go with a wild card, and keep Quincy Stewart over both Moore and Strong. Stewart was with the team last season, but looked like he was out played by Moore and Strong.

Having too much depth is a good problem to have, it will be very interesting to see how the 49ers handle the situation though.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
