In Thursday’s practice Garrison Hearst went down, and for a moment the 49ers were really concerned. While in practice, Hearst’s surgically repaired foot was stepped on. Hearst was immediately attended to by the training staff. He along with the staff determined that he was ok.

When Hearst returned to the morning walkthrough, the 49ers let out a collective sigh of relief. Hearst was also able to participate in the afternoon practice.

The incident was the first real test as to how far Hearst has returned from his series of injuries. He played all of last season, and was in his share of physical competition, but nothing really tested whether the foot would hold up. Hearst can now rest assured that his body has healed. He can put the past behind him and look forward to another great season.

Further - Receiver Jeremy McDaniel has practiced with the team twice and will see some action versus the Raiders. He is reportedly, an excellent special team’s core player, who has been recovering from May hernia surgery.
