The 49ers will kick off the NFL season Today at 5:30 PM PST in New York against the Giants. The first ever Thursday Kick Off of a season has the NFL and television Networks going all out to get the fans excited about what should be a fantastic season.

New Yorkers will be able to attend a concert in Times Square in honor of last yearís tragedy on September 11th. Music star, Jon Bon Jovi will be one of the featured artists performing. NFL players, including Jeff Garcia are expected to be in attendance. NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue is also expected to be there.

For those of us stuck at home, and away from the NFL season opener, ESPN, the network covering the game, has a huge lineup of football leading up to game. Beginning a full two hours before kick off, the ESPN team will preview each of the 32 teams. They will provide analysis, and game breakdowns for the up coming week, as well as feature interviews with NFL stars.

Jeff Garcia, Terrell Owens, Jerry Rice, Rich Gannon and Tim Brown are all are expected to be part of the two hour, pre-game show. Former 49ersí quarterback Steve Young is also expected to add his commentary.

The NFL season is about ready to kick off. Iím counting down the minutes, and quite frankly, couldnít be more excited. Itís going to be a great one!
