Now that the 49ers are back in San Francisco, and getting ready for their home opener, the team is also taking part in some philanthropy events. With the 9-11 anniversary this week, the 49ers are taking part in a number of different events to aid several different charities.

Today, the 49ers will have several players including S Zack Bronson, T Derrick Deese, G Dave Fiore, T Scott Gragg, LB Julian Peterson, G Ron Stone, T Matt Willig and WR Cedrick Wilson visiting the Blood Centers of the Pacific (270 Masonic Ave., San Francisco) around 11 AM.

Also today, the 49ers will launch their “49ers community recognition program”. The committee will open at the Young Community Developers Chocolate City II facility (1745 Yosemite, San Francisco). This program is designed to recognize academic achievement of those taking part in the community. The community focuses on computer training, job training and placement, tutoring and leadership classes.

This week the 49ers are also promoting the NFL’s flag football league. The league is designed to teach both boys and girls the rules and skills of playing football.

The team will cap its week of giving, with a book drive on Sunday. The team asks that children books be brought to the game. The drive is an effort to help increase literacy among children.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
